Gagne Behavioral Health Care is proud to offer telepsychiatry services to the senior residents of the Palmetto State. We understand that quality of life stems from all around good health, both physical and mental. Through our telepsychiatry services, we aim to provide excellent psychiatric care throughout South Carolina.
Addressing mental health concerns is our primary focus at Gagne Behavioral Health Care. Currently, there is only an average of 9 in-person psychiatry professionals for every 100,000 South Carolina residents. The shortage of psychiatric professionals within the state of South Carolina creates a need for improved healthcare delivery methods. The introduction of telepsychiatry seeks to fill that need. Telepsychiatry ensures that our seniors have the option of receiving the assistance and care they deserve, regardless of their location.
Among South Carolina’s population, 14% are over the age of 60. Of that senior population, 26% are living alone. Seniors are among the most vulnerable populations when it comes to mental health. Through our telemedicine system, we are able to provide comprehensive psychiatric services within the comfort of their own homes.
In order to obtain the best quality of life possible, seniors deserve consistent, quality psychiatric services. The services we provide for seniors include Alzheimer’s and dementia treatments such as medications and CBD. We also include care for depression, anxiety, and memory loss in older adults.
Obtaining adequate healthcare is also a challenge for South Carolinians who reside in rural or inaccessible areas. Through telepsychiatry, we will be able to help many people who would be unable to obtain consistent psychiatric care without telepsychiatry.
We utilize video conference technology to work with our patients. Through this technology, we’re able to provide evidence based assessments, therapies, patient education, and medication management. This health related use of videoconferencing technology is called telemedicine.
